Concrete Engineering and Technology by Dr. Sudhir Misra | NPTEL Videos Download

NPTEL is a Government of India sponsored collaborative educational programme By developing curriculum-based video and web courses the programme aims to enhance the quality of engineering education in India. It is being jointly carried out by 7 IITs and IISc Bangalore, and is funded by the Ministry of Human Resources Development of the Government of India.

Concrete Engineering and Technology

Discipline: Civil Engineering
Faculty: Dr. Sudhir Misra
Institute: IIT Kanpur

Concrete Engineering and Technology course were available online. The course videos are available in streaming mode, and may also be downloaded for viewing offline. The video files are also viewable via the Civil Engineers Portal Channel in Youtube.

Topics

  1. Fundamental of concrete - constituents, proportioning, mixing, transportation, placing and curing.
  2. Properties of fresh and hardened concrete.
  3. Quality control in concrete construction.
  4. Durability of concrete - alkali aggregate reaction, reinforcement corrosion, freezing and thawing, etc.
  5. Special concretes - high strength, low heat of hydration, high early strength, self-compacting, etc.
  6. Construction methods - shotcrete, roller compacted concrete, etc.
  7. Reinforcing materials - epoxy coated bars, fibre-reinforced plastics.
  8. Introduction to 'maintenance' of concrete structures - use of nondestructive testing, evaluation criteria.
